Cave of Monsters are back on Kickstarter for 3 Minutes (actually, a whole month).
Shows like Ultraman and Spectreman inspire the RPG 3 Minutes. That means there’s some brief combat with giant heroes and lots of exploration. The target is $3,500, and a few hours into the launch, we’re about halfway there. You can follow progress or support the project from the pitch page.
Games of 3 Minutes tend to last 4 to 5 hours and work best with parties of 3 or 4 with a GM (or Narrator). Players have two characters, a Host and a Guardian, who are involved in travelling to places that might have an EIJI problem.
Hosts have three stats; Build, Brains and Charm, and other details such as Backgrounds and Bonds. Guardians boost their Host’s stats depending on the element they’re made up from — elements like Sound or Light.
Recently, there have been more and more reports of gigantic creatures. Their origins unknown, these Eccentric Individuals are known to attack humans, terrorize cities, and generate toxic radiation.
In response to the continued sightings, elite task forces, known to the public as, Patrols have been forming all across the globe using high-powered vehicles and weapons to keep these creatures, or EIJI (Eccentric Individual Justifying Identification), at bay.
Backers get the PDF copy of 3 Minutes as a reward with $12 or more pledges.
At $25, an at-cost print version of the game is added to the PDF download as a reward.
For US backers only and perhaps only for those who remember Pogs, a set of 3 Minutes Pogs is added to that at-cost and PDF coupon reward bundle at $35.
The top tier, $300, gets you permission to develop an EIJI with Cave of Monsters, the books but not the Pogs.
The publisher knows this genre well and has a track record. Previous Kickstarters include Henshin! A Sentai RPG, a gold bestseller on DTRPG, and Rider Konchu, an electrum.
Cave of Monsters is running add-ons (so you can get the Pogs that way – hey, look, I’m not Pog obsessed; it’s just that I’ve not thought about the weird little discs for a decade) and estimates delivery for December this year.
