The first trailer for Netflix’s upcoming murder mystery flick Reptile has just been released, and the crime mystery thriller boasts an impressive cast.
Benicio Del Toro, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Silverstone, to be exact. According to the tagline:
A mysterious murder. A hardened detective. A truth more dangerous than they could have ever imagined.
I honestly was just wondering what Alicia Silverstone has been up to, so that’s my question answered. Another thing that drew me to this trailer was the title, because I’m a pretty obvious reptile lover.
Reptiles are actually quite affectionate, y’know. The whole ‘cold blooded killer’ saying really does give them a bad name, so I really hope there’s a better explanation for this title (like a bonus iguana in the film or something).
Aaaanyway, back to the point. The film looks really interesting, and looks like it might contain a few unexpected twists and turns that keep you guessing – a real whodunnit. Let’s take a lookit at the blurb.
Following the brutal murder of a young real estate agent, a hardened New England detective (Del Toro) attempts to uncover the truth in a case where nothing is as it seems, and by doing so dismantles the illusions in his own life.
Okay, I can get on board with that. Here’s the official trailer for you:
The film’s director, Grant Singer, recently shared some thoughts on the film, and said:
I think the movie will be exciting to people who like to watch something where you don’t know where it’s leading you, where a film is going to have twists and turns and deceive you. And people who like things that are intense and visceral and suspenseful, I think they’ll find something exciting in this.
I’m actually starting to get some high hopes for this one.
Reptile‘s cast also includes Eric Bogosian, Domenick Lombardozzi, Frances Fisher, Ato Essandoh, Michael Carmen Pitt, Karl Glusman, and Matilda Lutz.
It will premiere at TIFF next month before it becomes available to stream on Netflix from October 6th, 2023.
