A new trailer has just dropped for Hellboy Web of Wyrd, and it looks like an awesome game – we’ve also learned it’s due to be released on October 4th. Spooky season!
The trailer, released by Upstream Arcade and Good Shepherd Entertainment, looks incredible, with the most notable thing being the art, created in the signature style of Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, who along with Dark Horse Comics, collaborated on the game.
It’s also got a brand new story to keep fans guessing, and features Hellboy “on a series of vastly different and wholly unique adventures” all seemingly connected to the enigmatic Butterfly House.
Built in 1962 by occultist Pasquale Deneveaux, The Butterfly House is actually a gateway into a terrible and fascinating dimension called The Wyrd. A B.P.R.D. agent sent on a reconnaissance mission to the mansion and promptly goes missing. It’s up to you as Hellboy, along with your team of Bureau agents, to find your missing colleague and uncover the secrets of The Butterfly House.
During the investigation, you will explore wondrous and strange planes of existence contained within The Wyrd, each one home to powerful monsters, forgotten godforms, magnificent treasures, and powerful secrets. But be warned, because ancient evil stagnates within the furthest reaches of The Wyrd… evil that is eager to be let out.
You can watch the trailer below, and to be honest, I’m kind of loving it. It looks just like you’re playing inside an actual comic book.
In the game, the character Hellboy is voiced by the late Lance Reddick.
Hellboy Web of Wyrd will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam – so, basically everywhere.
