Cthulhu Dreamt tabletop RPG: Hundreds sign up to hear the heavy metal sounds of Cthulhu

Cthulhu Dreamt is a TTRPG from Action Fiction, the publisher of the satirical Monsters of Murka 5e setting that comes with a heavy metal soundtrack. Hundreds have backed it.

The game engine in Cthulhu Dreamt is based on the D12 rules designed by Adam Baffoni, the creator of Tether.

The setting is a near-future world similar to our own, about ten years from now, and when the minions of the Great Old One are awakening or awake.

Cthulhu Dreamt has a fully playable campaign and existential dread, so you can quickly dive into the danger.

Also, Cthulhu Dreamt is a band on Bandcamp, and it is this group that created the soundtrack that accompanies the campaign.

The RPG book is an 8.5″ by 11″ hardcover, with full-colour cover and interior and depending on backer tier, the soundtrack comes on an exclusive vinyl pressing.

The game features a custom soundtrack, with songs composed specifically for scenes in the main campaign of the book. Facilitators will be able to scan QR codes present in the book to play original songs composed specifically to highlight cinematic moments from the campaign.

At the time of writing, there’s about a week left on the campaign, but you can join in and help out with a pledge of just $1. That’ll get you add-on access.

Backers at the $30 tier get the Cthulhu Dreamt: RPG in PDF form and the Springfield Nocturne Encounter PDF with the original soundtrack in MP3.

At $70, there’s also the Companion Novel in ebook, Conductor’s Score in PDF, R’Lyehan March Encounter in PDF, and the digital stretch goals.

$65 transforms the rewards to a hardcover and PDF combo of the Cthulhu Dreamt TTRPG, the CD and MP3s of the OST, the PDF of Nocturne Encounter as well as both the digital and physical stretch goals.

Those supporters with $90 get those $65 tier goodies plus the print and PDF of R’Lyehan March Encounter, the digital ebook and Conductor’s Score.

Kickstarter exclusives and that collectable vinyl unlock at $120 with slipcases, and the pledge levels go up and up until $333, which has audiobooks, exclusive t-shirts, and dice trays. There’s a horde of add-ons and a retailer tier.

Action Fiction estimates an October 2024 delivery for all the tiers, making it a possible adventure or game for Halloween next year.
