It’s been 50 years since Star Trek: The Animated Series by launched, and now the Star Trek franchise is celebrating with a new series of animations entitled Star Trek: Very Short Treks.
Star Trek: Very Short Treks is set to “celebrate the bold, the silly, and the unusual across the animated universe of Star Trek” in the same style as the original Star Trek: The Animated Series – and I for one can’t wait!
The first of five animated shorts will kick off on Star Trek Day (the 8th September) – with the rest will be released weekly after that – via StarTrek.com and the official YouTube channel.
The cast includes Jonathan Frakes (Will Riker), Doug Jones (Saru), Armin Shimerman (Quark), Ethan Peck (Spock), Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher), Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura), Connor Trinneer (Trip Tucker0, Bruce Horak (Hemmer), Noël Wells (Tendi), and George Takei (Sulu).
Check out the trailer below. How fun does this look?!
The official episode titles are:
- September 8th – “Skin a Cat”
- September 13th – “Holiday Party”
- September 20th – “Worst Contact”
- September 27th – “Holograms, All the Way Down”
- October 4th – “Walk, Don’t Run”
Hmm, I wonder what other surprises lay in store. Guess we won’t have too long to find out! You can also get geared up for it by watching the original animated series on Paramount Plus.
Will you be getting your Trek on, on the 8th? Whether you’re watching the first very short trek, or celebrating in another way, we want to know about it!
