It’s coming up to that time of year again; y’know, when Mike Flanagan releases another spooky series we can binge watch in the run-up to Halloween.
Surely you all know who I’m talking about by now. This is the man (writer and director) responsible for the likes of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass.
Those are three shows that contain moments I ain’t forgetting about in a hurry. And now we can look forward to another house-themed (okay, maybe a different type of house, unsure) show, this time in the form of The Fall of the House of Usher.
Goodie, you might be thinking. However, this one is particularly exciting, as it’s said to be a “modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe”. It’s also an epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy.
Here’s what Flanagan had to say via Bloody Disgusting, and to be honest, it’s very surprising.
A lot of the stuff I do is a slow burn. The Fall of the House of Usher is a brush fire. It is an explosion. It is as aggressive and rock ‘n roll and over the top and just violent and insane and horrific as anything I have ever done… by a lot. We’re gonna pull all the all stars from the Intrepid group of actors and some great new faces and we’re just gonna fucking jam.
Yeppers, you’ve really got me now, Mr Flanagan sai. More horrific than Midnight Mass? Holy shit. I actually cannot wait for this.
We’ve got the full-length poster right here, and it’s looking gothic and a bit spooky (as you’d expect), as well as showing off the show’s cast.
The cast includes Frank Langella, Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, Zach Gilford, Katie Parker, Annabeth Gish – amongst others!
In case you missed it on the poster, you can watch The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix from October 12th, which is when I’ll enter binge city.
What do you think? Are you ready for a Mike Flanagan Edgar Allen Poe-themed spooktacular? Let me know in the comments.
