Dungeons & Dragons turns 50 in 2024, and we’re getting a not-new-but-new edition of the iconic tabletop game.
The Dungeons & Dragons cartoon first aired on September 17th 1983. That’s right, the D&D cartoon is 40! Did you miss it? If we’re fast, we can pre-order one of the 1983 rollercoaster tickets being made to celebrate the anniversary.
Why a rollercoaster ticket? That’s how this 40-year-old D&D adventure started. A group of friends visiting a funfair in our world bought tickets for a rollercoaster ride and were transported to the strange world of Venger, Tiamat and Dungeon Master.
That’s right, the D&D cartoon was an isekai!
The kids were young! Hank, the leader, was only 15, as well as Eric the Cavalier. Diana, the Acrobat and Presto were 14 and Sheila the Thief 13. Bobby, as frustrating as he could be, was only 8.
Hank would be 55 now.
Toei, who makes anime today, was the animator, Marvel Productions was one of the Production Companies, and D&D Entertainment was another.
The haunted rollercoaster tickets are embossed collectables and are 100% official.
Merchoid expects to ship these in November, which feels ages away and does not comment on the materials used, but that does not seem to be affecting sales. The retailer says they’re nearly sold out.
