We’ve got the teaser trailer for a new game from Inkle, entitled A Highland Song – and it looks peaceful, playful and incredibly fun!
Inkle is known for its incredible storytelling in games such Heaven’s Vault, 80 Days, Overboard!, Pendragon and the Sorcery! adaptations.
A Highland Song is still narrative-based, but this time it’s a platform game – which, to be honest, looks utterly enchanting.
You play the character of Moira, who resides deep in the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by hills, wildlife and gorgeous scenery – but what she really wants is to visit the sea. She’s never been!
Moira seems friendly and down-to-earth, whilst coming out with genius phrases such as ‘Christ on a velociraptor!’ (which I’m totally steal, by the way).
You join Moira on an epic adventure where she runs, jumps, and climbs through the beautifully illustrated scenes around her, sometimes to Scottish folk music! Check out the teaser trailer below:
Inkle co-founder Joseph Humfrey reportedly once got lost in the Highlands, so that may have been a factor in this beautiful-looking game, but it also takes inspiration from many literary figures who have attempted to truly capture the wonders of the Scottish Highlands.
A Highland Song will be making its way to PC and Nintendo Switch ‘soon’ – I’m hoping maybe this year, but we’ll have to wait and see.
