It’s October, frockober and spooktober all at once, which means it’s time for Geek Native’s patrons to have their say.
Can they command the dead to rise? Maybe. Can they channel abyss magic through the generations? Perhaps! Can they vote in the November RPG Publisher Spotlight? You betcha!
Scoundrel Game Labs won for October. Congratulations! I’ll be getting in touch to try and line up an interview.
You can use this private poll link to vote if you’re a patron.
The candidates for November are;
Why does Geek Native run the RPG Publisher Spotlight? Glad you asked. The goal is to try and share attention a little further than usual. It’s great that some tabletop RPG publishers are building brands and making a name for themselves, but wouldn’t it help if smaller or even solo creators got some limelight now and then?
Whether or not Geek Native can arrange an interview with the winner or publisher, we’ll still feature them across articles for a month, and this includes a mention in each podcast.
Now, Geek Native isn’t the only RPG blog to run interviews, and while I’m no expert, I’ve done this a lot and here are some tips that might be reassuring.
Here are some tips on how to prepare for an interview with an RPG blog:
- Research the blog. Read the blog’s recent posts to get a sense of the kind of content they publish and the topics they’re interested in. This will help you craft your answers and ensure they’re relevant to the blog’s audience.
- Think about what you want to share. What are your most interesting or unique insights into RPGs? What are you passionate about? What can you teach the blog’s readers?
- Prepare some stories or examples. This will help you illustrate your points and make your interview more engaging. For instance, you could talk about a time when you used RPGs to teach your students a skill or a time when you had a particularly memorable RPG experience.
- Be enthusiastic and genuine. Interviewers can tell when you’re excited to discuss your topic, so show your passion for RPGs. Also, be honest and authentic in your answers. The blog’s readers will appreciate it.
