Hernandooney has a Project We Love, Witchstarter and a fully funded RPG campaign on Kickstarter, and more than three weeks still to run.
The collaboration between C.S.E. Cooney and Carlos Hernandez is to make the RPG Negocios Infernales, which is designed to be easy to play and run without a GM. In the game, players explore a world of the Spanish Inquisition interrupted by aliens.
Negocios Infernales pitches itself as both hilarious and macabre. Players are wizards who have struck deals with devils for power.
The devils, though, are actually aliens, and it’s not magic.
The game isn’t set in Spain, but in Espada, which is much like 15th/16th century Spain, and there may be an Inquisition on the way. Luckily for Espda, the aliens are trying to stop that from happening. The problem is that we humans are very good at being bad.
There’s no GM, there’s no dice, and there’s no prep. Players use a deck of cards to build the world and then play through what happens next.
One foundational design goal of Negocios Infernales was to make the game absolutely as easy to learn and play as possible. At the same time, we wanted the game to inspire the off-the-chain shenanigans and hi-jinks that make for the most memorable RPG sessions for players of all experience levels.
Backers who have contributed $1 or more will get a web-based way to draw cards from Deck of Destiny from the creative team. Those who contribute $5 will get a thank you sticker; at $15, it’s a set of Negocios Infernales postcards.
The game first appears as a reward at $45, meaning more than 270 cards, the 96 rules, and the quickstart card, but excludes shipping.
At $65, there’s also an enamel pin, stickers, postcards, virtual deck access, and all the physical RPG goodies.
Higher tiers offer backers the chance to create with Claire and Carlos, stock up their store or play with the creative leads.
Hernandooney estimates a December 2024 delivery.
