Geekster Games is on Kickstarter with a campaign for The Gun Belt. It needs $20,000 to fund and has about a month to do it and bring a tabletop RPG of robots and alien cowboys to life.
The setting is a planet run like a company, with no wheels but floating rocks and dinosaurs and is an interstellar Wild West with robots and alien cowboys. You can check out progress on Kickstarter.
The Gun Belt RPG blends the Wild West with science fiction. Players take on the roles of alien and robot cowboys riding dinosaurs across an interstellar frontier.
These planetary pioneers struggle to survive beneath the smothering rule of the greedy corporatocracy, LeviCorp. As a posse, players must work together to overcome the harsh wilds of the planet they call Hell.
Exposure to the planet’s primary resource, a mysterious floating rock called levitite, grants players extraordinary abilities. Levitite’s magnetic properties allow it to float, and this is put to use in practically every facet of life. There are no wheels on Hell. Steam levimotive trains, floatcoaches, and wagons cross the terrain under the power of levitic engines or towed by beasts of burden like trykes or Hellbenders.
The RPG system in The Gun Belt uses 2d6 and Skill Checks, with Attributes and Skill Levels added to try to hit 12 or more.
The world of The Gun Belt features human, robot, and alien cowboys riding dinosaurs across an interstellar Wild West. The dusty and dry frontier of the planet Hell is governed by the greed-driven mining corporatocracy, LeviCorp. Across the land, everyday folks do their best to survive. But life can literally be hell for those struggling with the challenges of an oppressive government, scarce supplies, fearsome bandits, and the dying hope of a better future.
Backers at any level get The Gun Belt Quickstart.
At $25 or more, supporters will also get the Core The Gun Belt rules as a thank you reward.
Then, jumping all the way up to $60, the PDF of the Burden Cards and the offset printed physical edition of the book is added. An add-on lets you get the book signed.
Backers at the $80 tier also get physical Burden Cards, the MP3 soundtrack and custom 6d6. Stretch goals expand to include any physical ones unlocked, previously being limited to only the PDF ones.
A higher tier, called Velocigoate Herder, ads a lapel pin, a sticker set and an On A Roll 2e book.
Higher tiers at $400 offer superbackers the chance to design a town for the game, $500 the Dig! card deck and a character in the book or original bestiary artwork.
Except for the Quickstart, the PDFs are slated for Feburary and the physical books in March 2024.
