There’s a truth to the steampunk rebuttal that glueing some cogs on does not transform an object into a steampunk object.
However, if we’re going for a Halloween nightmare steampunk, perhaps a distorted jumble of cogs and wires is precisely right. As for the mirror? The suggestion that a horror of technology is nothing but a reflection of us and our society?
Or perhaps I’m overthinking it.
This “Mask Face Steampunk Gold with Mirror” is at Cazaar and sold by The Creative Collection Company.
There are rather too many Creative Collection Companies for me to be sure which one is behind the mask (though I have got a good idea), but this one has thousands of listings on Cazaar.
In turn, Cazaar (said like cub-zaa) is an online marketplace for fancy dress, gifts, merch and apparently booze. As a live-by-the-internet company, they have some recent blog posts and I noted this one A Guide to Women’s Fancy Dress. Yes, it was written by someone with a name often associated with men, but I was pleased to see it stressed comfort and budget.
