Mario Barbati’s 0One Games is a prolific and popular RPG cartography studio. In particular, the publisher does dungeons and other map designs in architect’s blue.
Now, that same blue tone and others are used in 50 Tarot Cards so that GMs can combine them in random orders and draw to summon designs. It’s the Deck o’Dungeons.
There are three categories of cards in this random dungeon generator, and there are a further five subcategories which give the GM prompts on how encounters in locations could develop.
While the appeal of the Deck o’Dungeons might be the 50 Tarot-sized cards the campaign offers VTT and PDF support.
The main categories are;
- Dungeon
- Wilderness
- Urban
The subcategories are;
- Fight
- Trap
- Puzzle
- Monster
- Roleplay
It is an interesting choice; I think trap and puzzle are very close, but fight and monster are surely closer.
On the opposite side of the map is the description of the small dungeon or encounter. The language used is basic, simple, and does not dwell too much on unnecessary descriptions, leaving it in the hands of the GM to enrich the descriptions as he or she sees fit. Any GM will also have no difficulty in adding the appropriate stat blocks to his own game system. Some of these maps are a very good source adventure ideas.
Backers at €5 in support get the PDF version of the dungeon and wilderness plans, plus access to the add-ons.
Then, at €10, backers also get a print-on-demand at-cost coupon.
That’s it. 0one have more to offer but those perks, such as VTT support, are accessible via the add-ons only.
The estimated delivery date for the project is December this year and the campaign closes on the 22nd.
