A new preview clip of upcoming sci-fi series 3 Body Problem has been released by Netflix today. The series is in development by the same team behind Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
There’s eight episodes in the series, based on the books The Three-Body Problem, The Dark Forest, and Death’s End by Chinese author Cixin Liu.
I’ve heard people talking about this series, and how they’ve been looking forward to it having read the books, so I’m hoping it’s going to be a good watch – and from the clip, it certainly looks interesting.
For those of you unfamiliar (like I am), here’s the synopsis:
A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes, five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.
The books explore a world set in a time “when humanity discovers that we are not alone in the universe and prepares for an alien force arriving from a distant and inhospitable world. The title refers to the aliens’ star system, which has three stars orbiting each other in such a way that an Earth-type planet between them keeps suffering extreme hot and cold temperatures, repeatedly wiping out its intelligent civilizations.”
Check out the clip below:
The series will star John Bradley, Jess Hong, Benedict Wong, Eiza González, Jovan Adepo, Alex Sharp, Saamer Usmani, Liam Cunningham, Rosalind Chao, Jonathan Pryce, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, Ben Schnetzer and Zine Tseng.
Because I’m coming in completely new to this series, I think I’m just going to watch it without doing any further research into the books first (plus, I just don’t have the time).
The series is coming to Netflix on March 21st, 2024.
Have you read The Three Body Problem – and if so, are you looking forward to the upcoming series? Let us know what you think in the comments!
