Vincent Baker’s Vindicated Entertainment presents Deathsend as a game of strategy and social deduction on your mobile.
The game is inspired by Death Note, an anime in which names written in a book could kill people, and has about a month to fund on Kickstarter.
The TRPG (a texting-RPG?) is recommended for players 14 and up, needs between 5 and 13 of them but only takes about 10 minutes a day.
Deathsend isn’t app. It comes in a box, and that contains;
- 1 Tarot-sized rulebook
- 9 Tarot-sized Calamity Cards
- 12 Tarot-sized Character Cards
- 7 Tarot-sized Location Cards
- 20 Tarot-sized Skill Cards
Importantly, not everyone playing needs a paid-for product, and Deathsend’s Players Guide is free to download.
Vindicated as other manga-style games such as Black Paper Moon and Heartseeker, Deathsend also uses that approach appropriately.
Deathsend needs a GM. Each player is assigned a random Faction and Allegiance and three skills, two of which they pick and one of which is randomly assigned.
Backers supporting at £9 get the Deathsend digital rules and access to the add-ons.
There’s also the Legendaria core rulebook, Vindicated’s first mobile game RPG, and that’s added as a PDF to the rewards at $24.
However, if you just want the physical Deathsend Game Box with all those cards, then back at $39. That box and the PDF are the rewards at that tier.
A limited edition of the game is also available, and that switches out with the basic game box for backers at $49.
There’s one higher tier, and at $89, Legendaria, Otherworlds and Black Paper Moon’s core digital rulebooks are added.
The campaign winds down on December 6th, and Vincent estimates delivery begins in June 2024.
