I think Geek Crate Cyber Monday is my highlight deal if it’s legit.
I’ll admit it; I’d actually forgotten all about the physical subscription model as a thing! Perhaps Geek Crate is one of the few left standing, but they’ve been left with Star Wars, Marvel, Anime, Pokemon, DC and other brands.
The deal is 30% off and three bonus items.
You have to sign up, but they say you can cancel anytime. I’ve not tested that. However, ‘sign up’ can be for a single box and no subscription.
I know that I’d zoom in on, and that’s the Otaku Crate. In GBP, that would be £27.97 today as a subscription of £39.95 as a one-off purchase.
The Otaku box promises free shipping and at least 50% off retail. So, when I add all that together, I can get 30% off a box, which is a 50% discount, and three incentives to try it.
Furthermore, use GEEK15
as a coupon code to get a further 15% off.
However, that’s all beginning to sound too good to be true. I don’t recognise the reviews showcased by the site either. They invoke TrustPilot without ever saying TrustPilot. There are TrustPilot reviews, and they’re very mixed! Smugglers Crate does better but looks to be a clone of Geek Crate.
This is why I may have purged the subscription deal roulette from my brain. I survived several Christmas shoppings by buying several for myself and splitting the contents into standalone packages for friends, parties, secret Santas and so forth.
