Squid Game: The Challenge has been officially renewed by Netflix for a second season – having only just released the finale of season one – and you can apply to the casting call right here!
I’ve got to be honest, here – when I wrote up this story about the ridiculous things producer Tim Harcourt had said, I was flabbergasted about why this show was even a good idea.
But then I watched it. Not only did I (and my partner) watch it, I got emotionally invested in it. And I was pretty unhappy (although not too distraught) at the final winner – but that’s beside the point. It’s a bloody good show, and it’s easy to see why it’s been renewed for season two.
With hundreds of competitors taking part in childhood games to win life-changing money, some sneaking around behind the scenes, and so many curveballs that completely change the game for some – within seconds, even – it’s hard to look away.
The show features some of the games from the original series, as well as some new ones – so, you don’t even know for sure what’s coming next.
Here’s what Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Nonfiction Series had to say:
There was no red light in our decision to greenlight season two of Squid Game: The Challenge, the most ambitious unscripted show we’ve premiered at Netflix. We’re so excited to continue the franchise of Squid Game with our team in Korea, and producers at Studio Lambert and The Garden for this epic competition series.
Even more interesting, is that there’s another casting call for Squid Game: The Challenge season two. The casting call is right here, if you want to give it a go! From the website:
Real-life players will be immersed in the iconic Squid Game universe and will never know what’s coming next, Here they’ll compete in a series of heart-stopping games in order to become the sole survivor and walk away with a life-changing $4.56 million dollar cash prize. With a fortune up for grabs, who will be an ally, who will you trust, and who will you betray in this ultimate test of character? *Please note: Win or lose, all players will walk away. But if you win, you win big!
Ooft. That’s actually even tempting me.
Are you happy about the news that season two has been announced so quickly? Fancy taking part? Let us know in the comments!
