The 26th Detective Conan film, the Iron Submarine, was the most commercially successful in the franchise and the first to break 10 billion yen.
The 27th is Detective Conan: Hyakuman Doru no Michishirube (The Million-Dollar Five Guiding Stars) and will hit cinema screens in Japan in April. The latest trailer reveals that the Kaito Kid’s target is Vice Commander Hijikata Toshizō’s sword.
This anime shouldn’t be confused with Detective Conan vs. Kid the Phantom Thief , due out in about a week, a re-edit of the TV with some new footage to recap Conan meeting the Kid for the first time.
Under the title Case Closed, Viz Media published the Detective Conan manga, and they describe the franchise;
Precocious high school student Jimmy Kudo uses his keen powers of observation and astute intuition to solve mysteries that have left law enforcement officials baffled. Hot on the trail of a suspect, Jimmy is accosted from behind and fed a strange chemical which physically transforms him into a grade schooler! Taking on the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, he attempts to track down the people who did this to him. But until he finds a cure for his bizarre condition, Jimmy continues to help the police solve their toughest cases.
Aoyama’s 1994 manga not only enthralled readers but also sparked a long-running anime that’s been captivating audiences since 1996, solidifying its place as a pop culture phenomenon.
