Diamond Select Toys has made only 3,000 of these dice holding demilich holding statues.
You can pre-order now to get into that queue, and delivery for those of us with £220 to spend on dice decoration will be in August.
The statue, designed by Caesar and then sculpted by Sandro Luis Sampaio, is around 10 inches tall and can hold a complete set of gaming dice. The skull lifts open, the top coming away, to reveal a dice dish surrounded by magic tendrils of energy.
In Forgotten Realms lore, a demilich is a wizard or sorcerer who has become so powerful and determined to continue their magical studies that they no longer need a lich body.
After unlife as a lich, the magic user would need to learn the secret art of soul gems and begin to replace parts of their body with them. It’s not always the eyes and teeth but it is in Diamond Select Toys’ statue.
I gotta admit; I like the idea of having this on the table and then, after a meal, when a guest suggests playing a one-shot or a board game, lifting the skull to reveal the dice. Mind you, at over £200 for the spooky skull, would I let food near it?
