I can’t paint minis, and it would be great if someone would do so for me! Then, though, I’d change characters, and my need would return. BardSongs’ solution is to provide hand-painted minis and use magnets to let me switch heads and weapons, changing characters.
Nearly 1,000 tabletop fans have pledged money to support the Hong Kong-based company, and the ask of HK$100,000 has been left in the painted dust with more than HK$2,000,000 raised. You can see progress or join in at the pitch page.
The models are designed for tabletop RPGs at 4.5cm height and with 2.8cm bases.
There’s a male and female presenting body with cloth armour, male and female in heavy armour, and male and female with leather armour. BardSongs has over 50 accessories, 20 of which are different heads, and those include different races, ages and genders. It’s calculated there are some 5,000 unique character combos you could make.
The models are not 3-D printed but are injection moulded instead.
The campaign also includes some roll-up wooden (both) trackers and weapon stores. In this case, the weapons are tiny and magnetic for your models.
Backers can pledge HK$10, which is about £2, and get access to the add-ons.
All the pledge tiers are limited in number.
A single modular magnetic mini is the reward for backers at HK$271, £28, and that comes with a pair of swappable hands, weapons and two illustrations.
The first wooden tracking panel is a reward of HK$933.
The six-hero starter pack unlocks at HK1,482, and that’s about £150 in British money. A Premium Pack is swapped in at HK$3,200, and an Ultimate Package at HK$ 4,643.
The Dragon Knight Set is only available as an add-on, and that’s an extra £146.
The magnetic minis have an estimated delivery date of September 2024, and the attribute trackers are in July. The Kickstarter closes on the 3rd of February.
