The British aristocracy: the original gangsters. This is a quick and dirty (and somewhat gory and violent) peek at Netflix’s The Gentlemen; a follow up to Guy Ritchie‘s excellent 2019 movie of the same name.
Starring Theo James (The Divergent series/ The Time Traveler’s Wife), Kaya Scodelario (Skins) and featuring, no doubt, a host of other familiar faces. Including, it seems, one of our favourite British gangsters: Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast/ Beowulf).
The series description reads: “Eddie Halstead inherits large estate from father, unaware it fronts Pearson’s drug empire. With no crime experience, he must take over the operation or lose the estate.”
It’s looking cool and collected; and at the same time funny and slapstick in parts. Very much in-keeping with the best of Ritchie’s films, then. I’m certainly looking forward to seeing more.
There’s no indication when we’ll be seeing the series arrive on the platform, but we’ll keep you in the loop.
