We bring most excellent news! Writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson are currently working on the script for Bill & Ted 4, which we’re sure will be absolutely gnarly.
That bomb dropped during an interview with the Sarah O’Connell Show and star Alex Winter, who revealed how Solomon and Matheson are working on an idea. Once the script is finalised, Winter and co-star Keanu Reeves will be looking to shop it around and see who bites!
Here’s what Winter had to say: “We’re tinkering with a fourth movie idea that all of us like, and the guys are going to write, so we’ll see. It takes us time to get these things going, and we never want to do them unless they’re great.”
He also continued by stating the movie will only happen if he, Reeves, Solomon, and Matheson are all happy with the script. He also explained that they have a really good idea for the next chapter of Bill and Ted’s story:
They feel the same way, it has to be right. We love [the Bill & Ted movies] because they’re oddball, and they’re not typical mainstream films. They’ve never been cash-grab movies; nobody has gotten rich off the Bill and Ted series. We really do make them sincerely from a place of love and interest. There’s a really good idea that the writers came up with for a fourth that’s kind of obvious. I don’t want to give it away — I can’t give it away because I would be drawn and quartered — but it is a really good idea, an obvious idea. It will get written, and we’ll see if we can actually get it made.

So, that’s a bit of an unexpected but happy development for 2024! I didn’t think we’d be seeing the duo back on our screens in this format after Bill & Ted: Face The Music – but I’m definitely not complaining about it!
