Water drops versus superhydrophobic carbon nanotube array

This video wasn’t designed to entertain. This is science. As it happens it’s one of those science videos that will impress laymen too.

What’s going on here is that carefully sized drops of water are being exposed to a clever surface material (the superhydrophobic carbon nanotube array). The size and speed of the drop are varied. The shape and angle of the surface material are also varied.

Er, perhaps just watch it to see what I mean…

At the time of posting this video has had far more than 210,000 views on YouTube. Perhaps there’s hope for us all. YouTube isn’t just a collection of people falling over on video that have been uploaded for people who’ve run out of fart jokes to laugh at.
