More exciting Tim Burton news, as it seems the director has already found the next project he can really get his teeth into – a reimagining of the classic 1958 film Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman!
According to Deadline, the script is currently bring penned by Gone Girl and Sharp Objects writer Gillian Flynn, and sounds like it could be an absolute riot.
The plot of the movie focuses on a wealthy woman called Nancy who stumbles across an alien spacecraft and finds herself exposed to some sort of mysterious substance. This causes Nancy to begin growing uncontrollably, until she’s fifty feet tall.
Of course, the locals can’t help but notice, bringing chaos and panic to her small town – but she also uses her newly-found power to seek revenge and wage her wrath against all who have wronged her. The original film features silly special effects, along with a good dose of social commentary, and is an entertaining B-movie of the sci-fi variety.
It’s too early to say who might star as the fifty foot woman in this equation, but in my head it’s either Margot Robbie being amazing, or Helena Bonham Carter playing it quirky as all hell. That would actually be hilarious.
Burton’s hot off the heels of directing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to the 1988 beloved movie featuring the ghost with the most, and it feels like this new project is also going to be a lot of fun.
