Easter is a thing here in Scotland, and it always interests me how it’s both Resurrection Sunday and also the Saxon spring festival of Eostre. The Saxon festival is probably named after an even older goddess.
So, here are some made-up festivals and if these are no good, then Geek Native has a whole fantasy festival generator.
The Dragon Ascension Festival: Held every hundred years in the floating city of Celestia, this festival celebrates the legendary dragons who guide and protect the realm. Acrobatic displays by winged riders, vibrant parades with floats shaped like dragons, and a breathtaking fireworks display that paints the clouds with scales of fire.
The Stargazer’s Jubilee: Every summer solstice, astronomers and stargazers from across the land gather in the Whispering Glade, a clearing said to be woven with starlight. Telescopes of all sizes are pointed towards the night sky, tents filled with celestial maps and star charts illuminate the glade, and storytellers weave tales of ancient constellations and shooting stars.
The Goblin Market: This bustling marketplace, held deep within a hidden forest, is a haven for merchants and artisans specialising in the strange and unusual. Haggle with impish vendors over enchanted trinkets, taste exotic delicacies brewed in bubbling cauldrons, and watch mischievous goblins perform acrobatic feats to win a rare treasure.
The Festival of the Four Winds: Held at the equinoxes and solstices, this festival honours the four elemental winds that shape the world. In the bustling city of Zephyrhaven, the streets are filled with dancers swirling like autumn leaves, musicians playing instruments that mimic the wind’s song, and artisans crafting wind chimes and kites that dance in the sky.
The Bioluminescent Bloom: A hidden lagoon comes alive every spring with a mesmerising display of bioluminescent flora. Visitors travel by boat through the moonlit water, marvelling at the otherworldly glow of the flowers, listening to the lullaby of singing frogs, and sipping on moonflower tea brewed by the lagoon’s resident faeries.
