9th Level Games have backed more than 850 Kickstarters, and I’ve backed some of theirs. Backers aren’t a problem for their Zine Quest game set in the Regency, as they’ve about ten times they need.
The tabletop RPG is set in the Regency, but it’s also a sentai, and PCs follow the etiquette of romance novels while saving the world. You can see progress on Kickstarter.
Forget polite whispers and perfectly poured tea – the PCs’ genteel Regency life has taken a monstrous turn! As members of the Gentlefolk, their days were filled with lavish parties, elegant soirees, and strolling the promenade in the latest fashion. That was, until a colossal Kaiju crashed the afternoon, shattering serenity with its earth-shaking roar.
Now, characters must trade elegant gowns for transforming suits and join fellow Sentai Rangers, a valiant band of heroes dedicated to defending society from the clutches of The Syndicate, a nefarious organization with a knack for ruining social engagements with monstrous attacks.
Imagine landed gentry fending off skyscraper-sized threats while worrying about the latest gossip or dashing off to battle mid-waltz, their mecha suit barely concealing ruffled petticoats. Can they maintain a social standing while punching giant robots in the face? Will they find true love amidst the rubble and chaos?
The system uses Polymorph, which means rolling one dice only and checking a table.
Backers who pledge $12 or more get a PDF copy of the RPG zine and the companion card deck to print.
At $15, a physical-form zine is also added to the rewards. That’s not all; despite being in Zine Quest, there’s a ‘deluxe’ tier, and for $30, there’s a physical companion card and a character standee set added in.
Should you wish to catch up on previous 9th Level Games like Rebel Scum and The Very Good Dogs of Chernobyl, then there’s a catch-up tier, too.
9th Level will run the Kickstarter for Sentai & Sensibility until February 22nd.
