Pro-GM Daniel Baker-Zakala has hit funding targets in the Zine Quest Kickstarter for Pink Security and More, a system-agnostic setting.
The Kickstarter only sketches the setting, a post-apocalypse when society is beginning to recover. “Pink Security & More” is an in-world problem-solving agency who are hiring. You can find out more from the project page.
The setting comes from a yet-to-be-released graphic novel that Daniel and his wife worked on. That might yet be released as a prequel.
The PCs in the game will be part of Polly Pink’s crew, which means finishing dangerous deliveries in the wastelands, helping shops start up despite local gangs, and dealing with corruption (I guess we get corruption automatically as society starts to recover… sigh) plus taking part in extreme sports.
Monte Cook’s excellent Cypher System is mentioned, but any TTRPG rule set that can cope with modern elements such as guns and cars can, we’re told, be used for Pink Security.
The setting takes place in the possible future of our own world, post end of society, and post-post apocalypse. It’s a time when people come back together, and they realize they need each other more than ever. They form communities, and start the spark that will someday form fully functioning societies in the empty shells of the abandoned cities of the world. This book takes place in Dump City, one of the largest of these reinhabited city communities across the American Wasteland. In this society, people rely on junk to make useful items. Out in the wastes mobile communities participate in junk races, and live out their freedom on the road.
Backers can support the Zine Quest setting by offering cash or spreading the word. At $10, though, backers get a PDF copy of Pink Security & More, plus a mention in the credits.
The $20 tier adds a physical book to the rewards, with worldwide shipping on offer. Those with $30 to offer will get the same but Daniel will sign the book. Unfortunately, the signed version is available in the US.
There’s a $100 PDF and play offer in which a session with Daniel is part of the reward and there are retailer tiers.
There’s not too long to wait, with the PDF slated for August 2024 and the physical edition of Pink Security & More in October. The Kickstarter will run until March 2nd
