Ever wanted to be part of a punk band trying to survive in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic future for a few hours? Thanks to a new game from Critical Kit, currently available to pledge on Backerkit, you can!
Punk is Dead – a Mörk Borg compatible songwriting TTRPG – looks like a hecka lotta fun, and we’re 100% here for it.
Described by award-winning creator Tim Roberts as “Scooby Doo with music, mohicans and mosh-pits”, Punk is Dead is set in a post-apocalyptic version of the UK and sees players take on the role of members of a punk band.
The official description reads:
Armed with their instruments and a rusty old van, they will travel the length and breadth of a dying and divided country, bringing hope to the hopeless, killing bad guys and writing sick tunes.
Not going to lie, I’m loving some of the fabulous artwork on display from the campaign, above. There are various pledge levels to take advantage of, and the campaign still has 21 days left to go.
Take a look at the pledge levels below:
There are also stretch goals and add-ons for the campaign, which you can check out below. I love the idea that if they reach 100k, they’ll add a ‘solo mode’ to the game, where you can play it on your own!
At the time of writing this, the campaign is currently at £31.5k, so I can absolutely see it reaching the £40k stretch goal of an original Punk is Dead song being released by The Stereoflowers. That’s pretty cool.
I really like those dice, and wouldn’t mind the songwriting journal, either (mainly just to be arty in, as I’m in no way musically inclined, and that’s my downfall when it comes to this game!).
Anyway, if you fancy backing Punk is Dead, you can do so via Backerkit right here – but don’t take too long, as the campaign finishes on the 29th February.
What do you think of the premise for Punk is Dead? And is it really dead? Really?? Start the conversation by letting me know your thoughts below. Otherwise I’m just talking to the wind, baby.
