Athens-based publisher Studio Hex is in Zine Quest with Midnight Glamours. The TTRPG has PCs glamoured by the fae and, in turn, able to investigate them and other supernatural threats.
The Greek publisher has set a €600 funding goal and a month to reach it at Kickstarter.
Midnight Glamours uses a deck of cards rather than dice in its system. Players draw characters equal to their appropriate character score, the GM then draws cards equal to the difficulty and then both invoke modifiers to increase the size of their hand.
Cards are then checked to see whether they’ll count as a hit or not.
There’s a free download of the first ten pages as a teaser to check out.
There are different fae curses that PCs can have and, in effect, act like character classes.
The Changelings have supernatural visions and some physical differences from the mundane, although Hex uses a different word for this, which might not be the best practice for native English speakers.
Trolls cannot pass for mundane humans but have monstrous physical power.
Then the Garou share their bodies with a spirit animal and, therefore, share both some of their needs and traits.
In Midnight Glamours, those with the curse of the Dwarves channel the folklore dwarf stereotypes of pride, booze and stubbornness while Elves are slender, beautiful and magically attuned/
The setting of Midnight Glamours is an alternate version of our world, where entities known as the Fae coexisted with mankind and helped shape the world as we know it. However, after a series of events that drove most of the Fae to madness, a curse was cast on mankind, cursing them until the last human draws it’s breath.
Backers pledging just €5 unlock the digital copy of Midnight Glamours as a thank you reward.
Hex offers ‘anywhere in the world’ shipping for the physical edition at €12. Backers will have to pay shipping, and it’s not clear, but this might just be an at-cost print-on-demand coupon.
There’s a €17 tier for those who want both editions at €60, four copies of the PDF and physical zine.
There’s hardly any time to wait as Midnight Glamours is slated to ship in March 2024, although the larger tiers are shifted to April.
The Kickstarter for this TTRPG Zine runs until March 8th.
