Mark Ruffalo doesn’t think we’ll ever see another standalone Hulk movie – or at least not one with him starring in it, as he thinks it’ll just be too expensive.
For years, fans have been wondering if we’ll see our favourite raging green Hulky Boi in his own standalone movie, and it appears we now have our answer.
Especially during The Infinity Saga run of MCU films, the subject was raised time and time again, but sadly it couldn’t be done due to Universal Pictures having certain rights to the character. That’s no longer the case, so what’s the hold up? Why is it too expensive? Well…
The actor recently addressed the question in an interview with GQ, when asked about what the Hulk’s future might look like as part of the MCU. He said:
I’d love to do a standalone Hulk, I just don’t think that’s ever going to happen. It’s very expensive if you did a whole movie, which is why they use the Hulk so sparingly. I priced myself out!
What does he mean by ‘priced himself out’? Mark, what are you charging for your acting rate, and is it extortionate? Couldn’t you maybe… y’know, take a small pay cut? Make it Hulk & Friends? Who knows.
I honestly think that if both Marvel and Ruffalo really REALLY wanted to make a standlone Hulk movie, it’d happen. Maybe now just isn’t the right time, but the money thing feels a bit like an excuse.
