Star Trek Adventures is the official Star Trek tabletop RPG, and it’s been out since 2017. Published by British-based Modiphius, Star Trek Adventures is not a D&D 5e game but uses the 2d20 system instead.
We’ve seen variant core books such as the Kingon rulebooK and settings like Lower Decks already. Now Modiphius has confirmed a whole new edition.
Star Trek Adventures – Second Edition will range from the 21st to the 32nd century, from Starfleet, the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Star Empire. That’s a broader scope than the first edition; the update also takes Strange New Worlds into the license. The core rules are expected to launch at Gen Con 2024, and a starter will be set soon after.
Good news for fans who have invested in the sourcebooks and don’t need a rule refresh: Modiphius also says that the second edition of Star Trek Adventures will be compatible with the first edition supplements.
Chris Birch, Modiphius founder and chief creative officer, said,
You can see it in people’s eyes when they talk about their Star Trek Adventures games, that this RPG is really bringing something quite special to the table. Seven years ago we set out to tell a new story in the Star Trek universe, and to bring us all together to explore strange new worlds. So whether you’re a new crew coming to the table or old friends, I think you’ll find the second edition of Star Trek Adventures will be the beginning of your own five-year mission with all the wonder that entails.”
