If you’ve seen Gary Gygax or Like Gygax, some of the Gyzaengaxx family in Gooey Cube’s The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx may look familiar.
Gooey Cube’s previous games have had serious production values and been seriously cool, and the twist on the tale here is that The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx ditches seriousness for a playful parody. The boxed mega-adventure has a special Limited Edition and that’s another reason why the Kickstarter is racing towards $200,000.
The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx is a collaboration with Luke Gygax, son of Gary Gygax, the co-creator of D&D and the head honcho at Gary Con.
Interestingly, while the boxset carries a 5e logo, the D&D system isn’t the only one you can use. This mega-adventure and expansive campaign setting promises a thrilling journey filled with danger, humour, and the nostalgic wonder of classic tabletop RPGs. OSE and 5e get a name check, and the set will work with similar systems.
The Tomb itself is a gauntlet of challenges, mysteries, and a touch of dark humour fit for seasoned adventurers. Characters will get to explore the surrounding Gyzaengaxx Environs, a richly detailed region teeming with fearsome monsters, potent magic, and lore that pays homage to the roots of fantasy gaming.
The box set can be placed in the perils of Zyathé, Gooey Cube’s setting, Luke Gygax’s Gaxxworx’s setting of the World of Okkorim, or a world of your creation.

The Environs of Gyzaengaxx Campaign is a dark, dangerous, funny, and fabulous setting that can be set in any world!
This wonderful, wild, fearful, and lampoony campaign setting will cover the environs around The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx in glorious detail. Herein you will learn of the Village of Etholmm… where many intriguing locations and personages may be found; The Village of Blun… where more than a few dangerous and vile individuals congregate — all with fearful motivations; the dark temple where much evil is said to emanate from; as well as a significant number of other fantastical, mysterious, whimsical, and intriguing locations.
The early bird tiers are open until the 29th, and that’s what we have to go with at launch, expecting tiers to become more costly afterwards.
At $50, there’s the early bird digital adventure, and that’s 100+ pages of adventure content, at least 25 colour handouts, at least 20 colour NPC portraits, 25 or more magic item cards, at least 10 illustrated maps, Gooey Rewards and some stretch goals.
Early bird backers get all that at $60, plus the physical copies. Those gamers who go to Gooey Cube and register there also get the limited art print “An Evening in Etholmm” but only while that page is live, and it’s expected to vanish soon!
Backers hitting $125 get the digital Environs Campaign set with its art, lore, extra locations, map and the “Lore Long Lost” guidebook.
$140 tier early bird backers get all that, plus the physical copy of “Lore Long Lost” and An Evening in Etholmm if they can sign up before that page is taken down.
At $175, there are the digital editions of the Tomb of Gyzaengaxx, adventure and the Lore Long Lost guide and campaign setting.
Therefore, at $190, we get that digital trio, plus their physical counterparts, as a reward.
Ready for a leap up? The autographed and limited editions of Tomb of Gyzaengaxx are among the rewards at $455, that’s the signatures of both Alphinius Goo and Luke Gygax. That tier includes digital and backup physical editions, so you don’t have to use your signed books. There’s also an exclusive t-shirt.
More? Oh yes! At $995, you’ll get featured in the official Gyzaengaxx with your portrait included, plus the limited edition game mat, exclusive pin and sherpa blanket, and the previous tier.
Wait, what… sherpa blanket? Just when I thought I’d seen every possible Kickstarter tier reward!
Higher still? $1,750 gets a gaming session with Luke and Alphinius Goo at Gary Con 2025, plus the signed copies (but no blanket!).
Gooey and Gygax will run the Tomb of Gyzaengaxx campaign until March 25, and delivery is expected in January 2025, except for the autographed copies a month after and the Gary Con deals, for which you have to wait until Gary Con.
