Are you thinking of D&D or tabletop RPG-themed pranks? What about?
- Mimic Encounter: Disguise a perfectly normal object, like a door, chest, or even a friendly NPC, as a Mimic! Just make sure the battle, if it comes to that, is funny.
- The Neverending Trap: Design a “trap” that’s more ridiculous than dangerous. Think buckets of glitter, an overly enthusiastic confetti cannon, or a room that rains harmless rubber chickens.
- Absurd Wandering Monster: Instead of a typical encounter, pit the party against something downright bizarre. A swarm of sentient cupcakes? A troupe of tap-dancing trolls? Get creative!
- The “Helpful” NPC: Introduce a new NPC who seems exceptionally knowledgeable, but their advice is consistently wrong or disastrously misleading. Have them send the party on nonsensical quests or misidentify monsters with hilarious results.
- The “Botched” Spell: Have a player roll for a powerful spell, but describe a hilariously unintended side effect. Their fireball transforms sheep into fluffy clouds, and their healing spell makes hair grow uncontrollably… you get the idea!
