I played Magic: The Gathering when it was new, collected cards and have no idea how much money I lost when my collection was given away. That was a while ago, I don’t remember which cards I had but it wasn’t 1980s…
It’s that 8-bit era that Infinite Black are channeling with their latest retro box offer. I’m reminded of my lost M:tG cards because perhaps if I had them in boxes like this they would have been saved. You’ll have to be quick, though, as there’s barely more than a week left to back 1UP-Deck Boxes.
Retro cool meets card game storage! 1UP-Deck Boxes sport vibrant designs inspired by your favourite games. These stylish, all-in-one deck boxes protect 100 double-sleeved cards, tokens, and dice.
This is Infinite Black’s seventh campaign, and over the years, they have accumulated millions of dollars in pledges.
There’s more to this campaign than trading card crates, and I suspect the add-ons will be a strong lure. There are ‘8-bit’ heart d6, play matts, and a spindown d20. If you want to start a debate, rock up with a spindown d20.
Oh, and if you think these deck boxes look like something Konami or Nintendo might do then that’s entirely your own, for legal reasons, imagination.
All Kickstarter Exclusive items are made with a small amount of overage to account for potential damage and/or lost shipments. If there’s any remaining overstock after the campaign has been fulfilled, then those items will be used for giveaways and/or sold at conventions. Kickstarter Exclusive overstock will not be available for purchase through our website, or any other means outside of conventions.
Backers pledging $19 or more get either 12d6 or a premium playmat as a thank you, but will have shipping to pay.
At the $25 the first of the 1UP-Deck Boxes unlocks as a reward. Which? It’s up to the backer.
Level 2, the $53 tier is a generous offer of one 1UP-Deck Box, one playmat, a spindown d20 and 2d6.
At $69 backers get three 1UP-Deck Boxes and collectors will easily fill these.
Backers who can go as high as $145 are rewarded with three boxes, 3 playmats, a spindown d20, and 6d6 with stretch goals.
There are a few more tiers before the final boss at $299 which offers up 7 boxes, mats and lots of dice. However, there is a $350 retailer tier and shop owners seem to be going for it.
David LaRocca, Brian Colin and team estimate they can get delivery running on 1UP-Deck Boxes by the end of the year. This quick campaign ends on the 16th of March, though.
