The first teaser trailer for Alien: Romulus dropped today, and it looks as promising as Ridley Scott had previously suggested – all very good news for the Fede Alvarez-directed film.
This teaser trailer is giving just enough familiarity with the previous films, and full-on sci-fi horror, whilst promising a completely new story that slots perfectly in-between the first and second Alien movies.
Alien: Romulus focuses on a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
Seriously, with all of these boxes ticked, what more could we possibly ask for? And with the Ridley Scott seal of approval, AND bringing on the same team as the original Aliens, it feels like a slam dunk for Alvarez.
According to one of the film’s stars, Cailee Spaeny, the movie is “supposed to slot in between the first movie and the second movie. They brought the same team from Aliens, the James Cameron film. The same people who built those xenomorphs actually came on and built ours. So getting to see the original design with the original people who have been working on these films for 45-plus years and has been so much of their life has been really incredible.”
I’m genuinely SO excited for this movie, but watch the trailer and decide for yourselves.
Along with Cailee Spaeny, the movie also stars Isabela Merced, along with David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu.
And we’ll be looking forward to seeing Alien: Romulus when it hits cinemas on 16th August.
