The trailer for The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story has just dropped, ahead of the short film’s release tomorrow – and it features Miles Morales having a bit of a ‘mare of it.
The short tells the story of “what happens when Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) starts to feel the pressure of his life as Spider-Man, which results in a scary, trippy little jaunt through his subconscious.”
The full short film directed by Jarelle Dampier was produced in collaboration with the #KevinLoveFund and the mental-health focused curriculum – which I think is really great, actually. Here’s the full synopsis:
Miles Morales struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend, and student while acting as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. After a particularly challenging day living with these pressures, Miles experiences a panic attack that forces him to confront the manifestations of his anxiety and learn that reaching out for help can be just as brave an act as protecting his city from evil.
You’ll be able to find this short when it premieres on Sony Pictures Animation’s YouTube channel at 1pm UK time tomorrow (or 6am. PT).
And I love that this is actually out tomorrow (did I mention?) so we don’t even have long to wait!
