It seems barely a day or so after Pawel “Skavenloft” Bodgaszewski published R3volution on Itch.io when someone asked for an English version.
It’s good news because it’s only been a week or two, and now there’s an English version on DriveThruRPG, and it’s still free to download.
R3VOLUTION is a role-playing game about a revolution devouring its own children. The whole thing was created for one-shot games played with three people without prior preparation. The rules can be easily adapted to various conventions – from science fiction, through cyberpunk, contemporary, to steampunk and fantasy.
The game uses d6, needs three players, and uncommonly everyone takes turns alternating in as GM. R3volution is a no-prep and no-previous knowledge game for one-shots.
No prep means rolling first for mood, genre and even the scale of events. I just tossed 3d6 and got a ‘romantic modern time adventure with a continental’ scale.
Characters also follow the ‘three vibe’ with three stats;
- Body
- Reputation
- Mind
After this, the game’s mechanics help you track the progress of your rebellion. At its core, R3volution is about sacrifice. It’s yours if you want it badly enough to give something up. Or, at least, put some of your attributes under strain.
The whole TTRPG is done in 18 easy-to-read pages, which leaves space for credit card-sized character sheets.
There’s no AI art here and instead the illustrations come from Pixbay and Unsplashed.
