Maggot Machine, a darkly fascinating RPG from Nightfall Games, is live on Kickstarter.
Uncover forgotten technology and confront grotesque monsters in a world gone strange. Built on the intuitive V6 system and crafted by the minds behind SLA Industries.
I’m an SLA fan, and I see similarities here.
Dave Allsop, the creator of the Maggot Machine world and SLA said,
We thought we’d try something different, and I came up with a game of exploration and survival set in alternate world where it’s always 1994 and hideous monsters have driven what remains of humanity underground. You get to play as one of the knights sent forth by the guilds to recover history and knowledge, and can earn rewards if you can survive the above world of Lighthell.”
It’s not agents, but Guild Knights, that you play in the always year of 1994.
For the brave and the curious, Nightfall have released Infestation as a Pay What You Want quickstart with the suggested price $5, but possible price $0.
The year is 1994, just like last year and the year before. The world is a ruined place where hideous mutations – Maggot Machines – reign and the Guilds hide deep in the Underland praying they go undiscovered. The Guild Knights are sent forth in Brigades to bring back the forgotten and hidden treasures of the lost world from a time before the Great Maggot. It might be a spoon, or a bar of soap, or – dare you dream – a can of chunky dog-food. And your payment for such excursions? Bolts. And pain.
Backers who pledge £10 or more will get the PDF of Maggot Machine plus appropriate stretch goals and access to a generous list of add-ons.
The game’s physical edition, which comes with the PDF, is the reward for backers who pledge £25 or more.
Nightfall Games’ new V6 uses (can use) special dice, and backers who step up £35 will get a set, plus a dice bag, and the Maggot Machine digital and physical editions.
There is a special edition, at least, a Kickstarter exclusive version of Maggot Machine and that joins the rewards at £55.
There is a retailer option. Nightfall says they can ship the game as early as August, and the Kickstarter runs until the 7th of May.
