In an exciting development today, it’s been announced that Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery) is stepping into her next big franchise project with Prime Video’s Blade Runner 2099 produced by Ridley Scott, and how amazing is that sentence?!
Blade Runner 2099 is a limited series that will follow the events of Blade Runner 2049, and although we have no details to share at the moment, we know from the title it’ll take place 50 years on from the sequel (because maths).
Scott is also said to be directing some of episodes, although Amazon Studios have brought on board director Jeremy Podeswa (Station 11, Game of Thrones) to helm the show’s pilot episode.
Production is already underway in Prague, and I love the fact that Blade Runner 2049 writer Michael Green is also onboard as a non-writing executive producer, alongside Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
This is incredibly cool news, and I think Yeoh has the potential to be perfectly suited to this series. Between this and a new Alien movie coming out, I’m pretty excited!
What do you think of the news Michelle Yeoh is set to start in a new Blade Runner series? Let me know in the comments.
