The full trailer for Tim Burton‘s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has just dropped from Warner Bros. and it looks like it’s going to be an incredible movie that’s lots of fun!
The new trailer features a load of great new footage, and the first thing that stands out to me is Michael Keaton looking amazingly at home as the Ghost with the Most, like he’s only just reprising his role from last year – rather than 36 years ago. So excited to see his full performance!
Another great element of this trailer are the practical VFX and the stop-motion sand worms – it really does feel like Beetlejuice is back, and I’m sure it’s what die-hard fans really wanted to see from this movie.
There’s also more insight into the plot, including one of the main themes being the living and the dead co-existing – can it happen? The official synopsis reads:
After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.
With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
But I won’t hold you any longer – check out the trailer below!
Alongside Michael Keaton, we’ve also got Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara reprising their roles as Lydia Deetz and Delia Deetz respectively, with new cast members Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectre, The Matrix films), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI) as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, and Willem Dafoe – who, interestingly, plays a B-movie action star who’s now got a job in the Afterlife as a police officer. Because of course he does!
Burton was recently quoted saying: “I so identified with the Lydia character, but then you get to all these years later, and you take your own journey, going from cool teenager to lame adult, back and forth again. That made it emotional, gave it a foundation. So that was the thing that really truly got me into it.”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be out in cinemas on 6th September, 2024.
