Cornish game developer Deathtrap Games is set to showcase their first-ever card game, “Take the Throne,” at the upcoming UK Games Expo 2024.
The fast-paced, tactical card game pits 3-5 players against each other in a strategic race to claim victory.
“Take the Throne” promises a thrilling experience where players must outsmart their opponents and secure the throne to earn valuable victory points. Card selection is crucial as only one player can reign as the Monarch each round.
Attendees of UK Games Expo 2024 can get a firsthand look at the game by visiting Deathtrap Games’ stand at Hall 2, stand 1094. The expo debut precedes a crowdfunding campaign scheduled for this summer on Gamefound, where players can support the project and bring “Take the Throne” to life.
The game features constantly changing hands and asymmetry between the Monarch and the other players. Only one player can hold the Monarch cards each turn, and it’s the best way of scoring points, so all other players are always after them. All the other players have the same cards, so they must choose carefully to have the best chance of taking the throne.
