You won’t have to be in Europe to back Warpland on Kickstarter when it launches on Monday.
The psychedelic and heavy-metal science fantasy has been crowdfunded before but with limited geographic access. The digital edition was a bestseller. This time around, the UK’s All Rolled Up, who do small press very well, are involved with the Argentina-based artist and game writer Gavriel Quiroga to print a new and improved edition.
Why did we not wait until Monday, when the Kickstarter launches, to write this up? That’s because All Rolled Up are at UK Games Expo this weekend and the limited edition dice bags that backers get with their pledges are on display. It’s our first chance to see them. Geek Native’s been cautioned that the limited edition rollups really are limited because there’s no more cloth. Given the risk of tiers selling out – we thought you’d like to know now, so you can hit that ‘Alert’ button for launch!
The game invites you to enter a world ravaged and ruined by war between the Eloi and the Morlocks. That war nearly tore the world asunder, leaving the landscape punctured by abyssal voids and corrupted by mutagenic maelstroms.
The European edition has new cover art, makes some light revisions and fixes some typos that slipped through previously.
If you’re curious about what a little hit of Warpland might be like, there’s a free-to-download teaser called The Forbidden Book of Tangible Reality.
