Roll20, the virtual tabletop, DriveThruRPG, and DMsGuild controller, has bought the TTRPG digital toolkit Demiplane.
Yesterday, Adam Bradford left Demiplane to join FantasyGrounds, a VTT rival.
Comicbook.com has the exclusive on the Demiplane news but now we know to look we can see Demiplane on the list of Roll20/DriveThru sites.
Tabletop gamers can use Demiplane to build characters, Roll20 to run games, and the DMsGuild/DTRPG to buy more content, although sharing the behind-the-scenes technology will take some time.
Roll20 boss, Ankit Lal, told ComicBook.com;
Our goal was to help connect gamers everywhere and help get them into games so that they can hang out with their friends and family. And that’s what we’ve been doing under Roll20, with DriveThruRPG, DM’s Guild, Demiplane, Dungeon Scrawl, all kind of under the same roof. Our end goal is to create a seamless user experience where people have one place to purchase their content, they can seamlessly take their characters from in-person to the VTT, they can buy PDFs, print-on-demand books, or digital compendiums… and to make it easier for everyone.”
Demiplane has Nexus products, character builders and other tools, with the likes of Paradox Interactive (World of Darkness), Paizo, Darrington Press (Critical Role) and Free League Publishing. The platform supports other systems.
Lal talked about Kickstarter to ComicBook.com, noting that with Demiplane integration backers could get PDFs, VTT modules, digital character sheets and character options all from the same place.
Demiplane CEO Peter Romenesko noted;
… In addition, we’ll continue to bring out a whole bunch of great games on our platform and find out really unique ways to bring Demiplane into DriveThruRPG and the virtual tabletop.”
