Today is a good day, because we have just cast our eyes upon the new, full trailer for Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus, and not only have we watched it, we can tell you right now it’s FREAKIN’ AWESOME.
Set between the events of Alien and Aliens, we can also tell you right now that it does NOT hold back; this is full-blown horror in space, and I’m 100% here for it.
In Alien: Romulus we pick up the story with a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
It doesn’t look like they’re about to have a fun time. Alvarez has previously said about the movie:
My first instinct, just to try something different that hasn’t been seen before, was to approach it from the angle of characters who are not professionals or scientists; they’re not even adults.
I liked this concept of putting people in the front seat of the story who are closer to what the audience is — not that the audience is young, more that the audience is completely virgin to the realities of space.
When the characters are professionals, they know more than you do. But when they’re still in their early 20s, they don’t know how to operate the f—ing airlock.
Check out the trailer below and see if you get as excited about this as I am:
Seriously, and I’ve said this before, but SO many things bode well for this movie, including the fact that Ridley Scott is serving as producer (who has labelled it “f***ing great, BTW) and they even got some of the team behind the original movies, too.
Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), along with newcomer Aileen Wu.
Ooh, and there’s also this fantoosh new poster for the movie, which is out on 16th August – appreciate that it’s out during my Birthday month. Hell to the yeah, and Happy Birthday to me.
