Horror-thriller film Longlegs is looming on us, and from what we’ve seen, it looks like a compelling watch, although the trailers really aren’t giving much away. And now we’ve heard that we won’t even necessarily recognisable Nicolas Cage when we see him!
Writer and Director for the movie, Oz Perkins has recently teased that Cage appears unrecognisable in the movie, and as someone’s who’s always interested in what Cage is going to do next, I’m really intrigued by what that’ll look like in this role. Perkins said:
We derived the voice of the character, the look of the character, the attitude. What references is Nic going to use in terms of people in his life or other actors? He’s very upfront that he pulls from other people a lot. So which other person is he going to do?
By the time he gets to the set he’s unrecognisable. He doesn’t sound like himself, he doesn’t walk like himself. So you have this element, like wind or fire, but it’s Nicolas Cage as your character.
Here’s the latest trailer so you can check it out and see what I mean:
The official description for the film says: “As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”
We’re told Longlegs is “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers,” and with early reviews in, film fans are drawing some comparisons to the ’90s thriller The Silence of the Lambs. That’s… definitely a good thing!
Longlegs will be released in cinemas on 12th July, 2024.
