Two Little Mice’s Outgunned Adventure Quickstart is a ‘Pay What You Want’ download.
I don’t believe it’s mentioned at all at DriveThruRPG, but the quickstart comes with a Discord bot (called Botgunned) that adds dice for the RPG’s Director’s Cut to Discord. As a result, it brings the Death Roulette to your server.
In Outgunned and Outgunned Adventure, you’re looking for matching pairs, three, four or more of a kind on D6s. Once your hero is downtrodden enough, you must start making Death Roulette rolls and risk them no longer being a part of the episode.
The thing to tackle first with Outgunned Adventure is that it is a standalone TTRPG. You don’t need Outgunned. However, if you have Outgunned already, then Outgunned Adventure is an expansion.
The very next thing to tackle is that in a handful of days Outgunned Adventure leaves BackerKit. The crowdfunding campaign has been a huge success.
What do you get in the Quickstart?
With this download, you get Botgunned, character sheets, and the quickstart in English and Italian. Given that you can pay nothing for this, that’s of great value. It’s a gold bestseller, so many people are paying something.
The Outgunned Adventure Quickstart begins by explaining it’s a genre book. It adds pulp adventure to the cinematic heroics of Outgunned, and this includes the supernatural.
The download introduces the Daredevil role. It’s not the superhero, but someone like Indiana Jones or Uncharted’s Nathan Drake.
Next up are enough rules to play a game with your Daredevil adventures. As you might expect, there are extra rules for traps – cue a giant bolder chasing after our heroes.
If you’ve got Outgunned then other new rule highlights in the OG Adventure quickstarter include extended and contest roles. There’s camp rules, a version of Time-Out and Danger on Danger rules.
We’re told the supernatural is coming, but the quickstart doesn’t tell us much about it.
There’s also an introductory one-shot called Frozen Legacy which starts at around page 50 and takes us to the end of the download.
Outgunned Adventure Quickstart overall
You can’t really complain about the price given that it’s a Pay What You Want. Do, though, expect Two Little Mice to find space to plug the Outgunned range and the crowdfunding project.
The Quickstart is as clearly and professionally laid out as Outgunned is, and while I’m sure it’s been designed this way, there seems to be an even more generous quota of illustrations and art.
I’d have liked to have supernatural rules, but the publishers clearly need to hold some juicy things back for the full rules and give their BackerKit crowdfunding campaign a boost.
The fact that a PWYW product is reviewing at 4.8/5 stars and has become a gold bestseller speaks volumes.
I’m sure OG fans will be delighted.
