You know what it’s like when you’re too young to see a horror movie, and you sneak in anyway? Well, according to Alien: Romulus star Isabela Merced, some of the terrifying scenes in the movie will scar underage kids for life.
According to Merced, whilst sharing her opinion of the film’s scarier bits: “I really do believe that there are specific sequences in this film that will scar some kids that sneak into the movie for life.”
Her co-star David Jonsson added: “You can definitely say goodbye to a 12A. The halfway house with Fede [Alvarez, director] is just not his style. If you’re going to try and scare people, then you scare them.”
Star Cailee Spaeny also chimed in with: “He doesn’t know how to not put that spin on it. That is just his instinct. He’s waiting to do something strange and twisted. And you know he’s got it when you’re right on the edge of going, ‘Should we do this?’ That’s when you know, ‘OK, Fede is in his sweet spot.'”
Let that be a warning to you, folks! (Right, as if any of you are going to listen to me – I’d say that if anything, it’s going to make the young ‘uns even more likely to want to see it)
Set between Alien and Aliens, the story of Fede Alvarez‘s Alien: Romulus follows the young characters played by Spaeny, Jonsson, and Merced’s characters as they attempt to escape their mining colony home via a scavenging ship that seems like their ticket out of there. Only problem is, there’s a pretty big catch.
Alien: Romulus follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
The movie is set to be released in cinemas on 16th August, and I for one can’t wait.
