The King & The Thief : What a fight sequence

Written and directed by Albert ‘t Hooft and based on the legend of Karel & Elegast “The King & The Thief” us a two-hour animation from Anikey.

Anikey hasn’t said much more about the feature-length animation, but Google and Wikipedia tell us about the 12th-century Middle Dutch poem.

The characters are connected to Charlemagne, the King of the Franks, reformer and Crusader. Elegast is a noble and a robber (or a noble robber), and I think it’s very easy to get Robin Hood vibes.

Except, and forgive my Middle Dutch and poor ability to read through academic texts, but I think there’s an angel in the original poem who puts Charlemagne on a path to meet Elegast. I think, therefore, we have our King and our Thief.
