Chris Longhurst of Pigsmoke is back on Kickstarter with a tabletop RPG based around tarot cards and the Lumen system.
In Threadcutters, the player characters are potent assassins who confront the secret rulers of the four worlds if even these powers step out of line. Once, though, there were five worlds. You can see progress on the pitch page.
Threadcutters is a GM-driven tabletop roleplaying game for 3-5 players where their characters become elite occult assassins, employing skills, gadgets, and sorcery to take down powerful targets who have overstepped their boundaries in the Arcana of Centro.
But beneath the surface lies a deeper conspiracy reaching the highest echelons of power – will the PCs uncover the truth, and can they even challenge it?
Threadcutters blends narrative roleplaying with tactical combat, its assassination gameplay. Using diceless mechanics for investigation and setup, followed by turn-based combat for the actual hit, each mission unfolds over a 3-4 hour session. A full playthrough spans four to five missions, creating a compact campaign with a clear conclusion.
As the last survivors of the Fifth World, you are responsible for keeping alive the memories of the world you used to know – and also dealing out death at the command of the Arcana of Centro.
They taught you the secrets of reality, trained you to a standard so elevated it seems superhuman, and blessed you with their particular magic, all to turn you into weapons against which there is no defence.
Backers get the PDF copy of the game as a thank-you reward at pledges of £12 or more.
The physical copy of Threadcutters is the reward at £25, and the softcover also comes with the PDF edition.
Keeping the crowdfunding simple, Chris Longhurst has no further tier in the campaign. The expected delivery date is February of next year, and the Kickstarter runs until August 29th.
