This blogger has never tried yFood. Now, it might not surprise you that I’d prefer steak and chips to a bottle of nutritionally optimised drink, but I do take both seriously.
If you’ve had to survive a few days as a blogger/reporter at a big gaming convention or the whole month of August in Edinburgh, then getting a balanced meal on the go quickly is essential. I simply haven’t tried yFood because that’s some weird branding.

The Gaming Editions might be an attempt to reach out to geeks.
There are two flavours with small differences in the macros, and they are;
- Amber’s Banana Peanut.
- Qiqi’s Icy Coconut.
The yFood alternative drinks feature characters from Genshin Impact, a free-to-play, open-world RPG adventure. They contain fiber, protein, and 26 vitamins and minerals and come in climate-neutral packaging.
Each 500 ml bottle has 34 grams of protein for 500 calories, which isn’t a great ratio, but it does have 25% of your RDA of magnesium, iron, zinc and chromium, which are rarer in food. There’s also 30% of your potassium needs and, less surprisingly, 100% of your calcium.
